Hi folks,
this blog was quiet for some time now. This should be change now. I will try to fill in some new thoughts about some things I came across in the past.
First of all I dumped Ruby in favour of Python. Now that I have to use Python on a nearly daily basis, I get more and more comfortable with it. When reading other peoples sourcecode to understand how they have things done it's getting easier to do so. Now I don't have to read it twice or look into the documentation to know what's going on.
I've started to solve problems from with Python. I solved about 24 prblems by now, but sadly, finding the time to spend into it gets less and lesser. If you're interested in my solutions leave me a note via jabber.
Last year I got a "new" used laptop which unfortunately doesn't like FreeBSD as much as I do. Without suspend to ram or to disk capabilities it's useless for me and I hope this cradle will vanish with FreeBSD 8. Unless it's fixed I have to live with Debian, which by the way is a nice distribution. It's not as frisky as Ubuntu or the other distros I've tried over the time since I purchased the laptop. I played for some time with Slackware and it's derivate Zenwalk. Neither of them met my requirements. After this I tried openSUSE and Fedora. Fedora was nice but it also didn't quite fullfil my expectations. OpenSUSE was as horrible as I imagined in the first place, but I had to try it anyways.
